At Mona Vale Dental, giving back is part of our mission each year. In 2025, our team was proud to participate in the ADA Dental Health Foundation’s Dental Rescue Day®. It was a meaningful opportunity to support women in our local community who needed urgent dental care but faced barriers to accessing it.
Across the day, our team provided $14,373 in free dental care for women referred through trusted local support services. Each appointment focused on relieving pain, improving oral health, and restoring comfort in a calm, respectful setting.
What Is a Dental Rescue Day?
Dental Rescue Days® (DRD) are organised through the ADA Dental Health Foundation. Participating dental practices commit a half- or full-day to providing pro bono care to eligible patients referred through approved community organisations.
These days allow dental teams to deliver care using the same clinical standards applied to every patient. Treatment is provided with dignity, privacy, and compassion, helping to remove immediate barriers to comfort and well-being.
Who the Day Supported
This Rescue Day supported women connected with two Northern Beaches organisations that provide community services:
- Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter: A community-based organisation supporting women experiencing homelessness. Their work focuses on safety, stability, and helping women rebuild their lives.
- Women & Children First: A service providing crisis accommodation and support for women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Their programs prioritise safety, recovery, and long-term wellbeing.
Both organisations play a vital role in supporting vulnerable members of the Northern Beaches community, and we were honoured to be involved.
Why We Take Part
Dental pain and oral health concerns can escalate quickly, especially during periods of stress or major life changes. Pain, infection, or damaged teeth can affect sleep, nutrition, confidence, and overall health.
A Dental Rescue Day® allows our team at Mona Vale Dental to use their clinical skills to ease discomfort and remove one more challenge from someone’s day-to-day life. It is a privilege, and a reminder of the impact accessible care can have on wellbeing and dignity.
A Team Effort Behind the Day
A Dental Rescue Day® is only possible with the commitment of the entire practice. A huge thank you to our dentists, hygienists, and support team who volunteered their time to ensure each appointment ran smoothly and respectfully.
We also thank the ADA Dental Health Foundation for coordinating the program and connecting dental practices with organisations doing essential work in the community.
